Engagement Pictures

Here are a few of our engagement pictures. This one is my favorite. These were all taken in January on Alki Beach in Seattle. It was very, very cold and windy, and we were not wearing coats. We were undaunted, however, thanks to some coffee and a lot of styling gel. Many thanks to Sharlane, our photographer!

This is also one of my favorites.

Here's when I bit his nose...

Good Friday

Hmmmm... it seems that people actually sometimes write their thoughts on blogs. This is something I have been avoiding, but it's probably more interesting if I write things that are more personal than advertisements for my concerts and links to our wedding registry... I think my hesitance might have to do with being an introvert. I come home from class, rehearsals, or lessons, (or I finish practicing, which I do at home, since the practice rooms at BU are unspeakably nasty) and all I want to do is sit and stare at the wall, or play mindless games on my computer, such as spider solitaire. I find that knitting is also good for this purpose. Thus, the idea of communicating with another human being, even as impersonally as this, is terribly draining. I spend every remaining bit of social energy to talk to Keith, since speaking to one's fiance is quite important. However, at present it is 10:00 on a Saturday morning, and I am feeling quite energetic, especially since I allowed myself to sleep an extra hour this morning (until 7:00 instead of 6:00 as usual), in anticipation of getting up sometime around 3:30 a.m. tomorrow in order to go to an Easter vigil. This may not happen, since I will have to walk there, and I am not sure that I will be able to convince Keith to walk with me. Last night we went to a Good Friday service. My friend, Rachel invited me to her church (Christ Church in Cambridge), since they have nice music there, and as people who love early music, both of us really enjoy hearing Tallis in a church service. Then at the end, they handed us candles and sent us out to the graveyard to think about death. I think I would have been more contemplative if I hadn't been worried that my candle was going to blow out. They ran out of lampshade-like devices to put over the candles. Oh well. Hopefully I will post some more pictures soon. I want to put up some of our engagement pictures. Oh, there I go talking about the wedding again... well, not really. Maybe people can vote on which one they like best by LEAVING COMMENTS!! Yes, you can leave comments by clicking on the comments link. I would say "have a good day," but shouldn't I say "have a penitential day" or something like that? Today is for contemplating sins and what not, and tomorrow is for celebrating. I'm going to go drink some of my "penitential tea" now (the stuff I don't like, but throwing it out would be wasteful--hooray, tomorrow I can drink the kind I like again, since it will be Easter!)

Upcoming Concerts

I'm giving a recital! Here is the poster/invitation.
Saturday, April 9, 2005, 4 p.m.
First Church in Cambridge, Congregational, Lindsay Chapel
Click on the picture for more information...

(And as an update, my father was slightly miffed that I did not give him credit for the lovely photo... so, yay for dad, who takes good pictures!)

Other upcoming concerts:
Friday, April 1, 8 p.m. Tess Wakim's voice recital... I will be playing continuo on cello and viol! Tess is performing stuff by Buxtehude, Frescobaldi, Handel, Arne, and Rameau. Also at First Church, in the main sanctuary. Tess is awesome; don't miss this one!!
Tuesday, April 12 (I think) Baroque Chamber Music recital; Jung Sun Yoon and I will be playing a Beethoven sonata
Friday, April 22 Bryan Jones's baroque oboe recital (not sure on too many details here)
Monday, April 25, 8 p.m. BU Baroque Orchestra concert, in which I will be performing the Boccherini Cello Concerto no. 3 in G Major
Sunday, May 15, 7:30 p.m. This will be my lecture recital on historical performance issues in Brahms's B Major Piano Trio. This concert features my trio, Peter's Angels--Jung Sun Yoon (piano), Julie Cannata (violin) and me (cello). This concert is also at First Church, downstairs in Peter's studio where he keeps all of his pretty instruments.
Monday, May 23 Sara Ofner's voice recital. She's doing some Purcell songs and a lovely Bach cantata, among other things. Once again I'm playing continuo. Yay!

I will update my concert list as I have more information!

Wedding registries

Hi! We've posted links to our wedding registries. We're currently registered at Bed Bath and Beyond (various household things such as pots and pans and bedding) and Porcelain Gallery (everyday and formal dishes). We might eventually register elsewhere, since Keith wants a drill... :)

Snow bunnies

Here we are, photographed after shoveling several feet of snow off the sidewalk and Jeff and Tara's car, followed but some rather intense playing-in-the-snow (Keith lost his shoe). There was lots of snow (this was taken during the January 23 blizzard, by the way).

Welcome

I just decided to make start a web blog, since it seems to be a helpful way of communicating details about our wedding. So, we'll start with the basics:

Who: Celia Wilson and Keith Olson
When: July 9, time yet to be determined
Where: Seattle, Washington

More details to follow. Enjoy!
